Duff Psychological Services Inc. is a private practice that specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults in the greater Victoria, British Columbia area. We are experts in psychoeducational assessment, therapy, and consultation and have specialized, graduate training in clinical assessment and intervention with youth and adults. In partnerships with local school divisions, Dr. Duff has conducted assessments, consultations, and workshops with children and teachers in schools throughout BC and Alberta. We also privately offer counselling, assessment, and consultation in our conveniently-located office in the Harris Green area on the edge of downtown Victoria, with ample parking available in the lot below our building and on View Street adjacent.

Dr. Carlton Duff, R.Psych.

Psychologist and CEO

Dr. Duff is a registered psychologist in the province of BC (CPBC #2279) and specializes in intervention and assessment (psychoeducational and clinical) with youth and adults. He has worked with thousands of people through his graduate training, private practice, and employment, including at a local children's rehabilitation hospital, school districts, and a national mental health association. In addition to young people and adults, he has specialized experience working with parents, teachers, police, military, first responders, and physicians. Dr. Duff received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of British Columbia, Master's degree in counselling psychology from the University of Victoria, and Ph.D. in counselling psychology from the University of Alberta's Canadian Psychological Association-accredited program. As a past Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta and current clinical supervisor at the University of Victoria, Dr. Duff has taught university courses in psychology and provides clinical supervision to students training to be psychologists. He has also trained and consulted with parent support coaches in their work with parents of children with anxiety problems and provided consultation to school counsellors and learning support teachers in their work with students. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Duff has conducted and published research on the most effective ways to assess for and treat psychological problems, and is a peer reviewer for several professional journals.

Amilamia (Ami) Gordon, B.Sc.

CLINICAL MANAGER

Ami is a psychometrist and certified independent school teacher who received their bachelor of science in psychology from the University of Toronto. They have significant experience working with diverse students in both private and educational settings.

Christina Perkins, M.Ed.

PSYCHOMETRIST

Christina is a psychometrist and certified independent school teacher who received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and her Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Victoria. She worked as a Learning Resource teacher in Middle and High School settings for many years, and brings her passion for building supportive relationships with students and their families to her work at Duff Psychological Services. 

Nicole Taiji, B.Ed.

PSYCHOMETRIST

Nicole is a psychometrist with a rich background in education and inclusion facilitation.

Before joining our team, Nicole honed their skills as an educator, where she developed a deep understanding of learning styles and educational needs and which enables her to approach assessments with empathy and insight. 

In addition to their professional expertise Nicole is passionate about the arts, outdoors, and culinary.

Deidre (Dee) Samuel

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR

Dee has been a Medical Office Assistant for over 25 years, with plenty of experience helping patients feel comfortable and welcome. She is responsible for all administrative aspects of the clinic (including scheduling and billing) and is the main point of contact for clients and their families.
